Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and she excelled at sports. The passion she had for sport was coupled with the natural ability to being a performer. She was awarded nearly all Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance which her nation had to give. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14, where she was able to pursue her dream of the opera stage and classical theatre. Charles Laughton became captivated with the stunning eyes of Maureen after the screening test he attended. Laughton together with his partner Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons identity changing her name "Maureen O'Hara" which was a shorter name, to appear on the marquee before casting for her role as an actress in Jamaica Inn, (1939). Maureen FitzSimons' subsequent movie (The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1939) was scheduled to be shot by RKO Pictures in America under agreement with Laughton. Maureen's contract with Laughton was bought by RKO following this film had such an enormous big success. At 19, Maureen had already appeared in two major motion pictures alongside Laughton.
